Hello joel! This is  ▆▆▆▆  ▆▆▆▆ , my new number. We have been hearing news about India. My thoughts and prayers go out to you. How are you, your family and brothers and sisters? Please please stay safe!

Hey  ▆▆▆▆ ! Thanks for your prayers and concern.

The general situation here is quite bad, perhaps the worst it has been in the past 18 months. A new, more contagious strain of covid certainly is a factor, but we are mostly here because our politicians have let us down in a big way. They have failed to exercise proper governance, instead choosing to focus on appeasing the people in a time of elections. They are trying to quieten any voices of criticism, going so far as to even crush people who are simply calling out for help. An acute oxygen shortage is killing people in the streets outside of hospitals, while deaths are being covered up and infection numbers are being manipulated.

The situation is certainly bad in my city & state, but other places especially in the northern part of the country seem to be severely affected to the point of hopelessness and despair because the leaders are playing politics rather than helping people.

Please continue to pray for all those affected, especially the poor and those who are victims of the circumstances created by evil people, rather than the disease itself.

Epilogue

My own situation has been relatively easy; groceries have been easy to come by, both my parents have received both doses of the vaccine without much trouble, and my job has been steady.

So many people around me have not been so lucky though. In every social circle, there have been parents and grandparents, friends and neighbors, not to mention people themselves affected by this rampant disease. Deaths, suffering, desperation.

Maharashtra was portrayed as the epicenter and worst-hit state: and it was severely affected. But as politicians and the media painted Pune & Mumbai as mere anomalies, the rest of India was burning. Now, the seams have burst all because this was a game for those who have a responsibility to the people of my country.

This situation saddens and angers me so much. I find myself detesting politics and politicians. God bless my country and the world.
