Inspired by this line that I’ve heard and resonated with in one form or another:
free yourself from having to constantly prove yourself.
I am not an imposter.
I don’t need to wait until my situation is perfect to enjoy the present. I can enjoy the things as they come, instead of when some arbitrary thing, that keeps moving forward, or keeps changing, happens in the future.
I can:
- Have a beer on Friday night, even if the week didn’t go that well
- Play with my kids and be present, even if my mind is racing
- Enjoy a cool breeze on a Sunday evening, even if there’s a bad Monday ahead
- Go for a bike ride on a Wednesday morning, even if the day is otherwise packed
- Go for a walk, watch the kids play on a Tuesday evening, even if I have a stressful meeting coming up
The thing about the future is that it’s going to happen regardless of our readiness.
